This is the best website on Nevada history that I have ever seen. It is easy to use and full of information--trivia and facts, but also analysis and photos. If you have any interest in Nevada history, or any need to know about it, this is the place on the net to look.

An excellent site with useful information for students from kindergarten to University, for history buffs to scholars. Mr. Shown is to be commended for performing this great community service and for his astute insights into Nevada history.

This Web Site fills a much needed gap in web-accessible information about the history of the state of Nevada selected and interpreted for a broad audience. This site is creative, informative, and balanced and contains much of value to teachers, students and historians.

This is the best site for the history of the Silver State, a great resource for teachers, students, and the general public. All students of Nevada history should be grateful for the wide assortment of detail and interpretation compiled here. Covering from prehistory to the present, the website helps shed new light on the remarkable past of Nevada. It will make you think about state history in a new way. My Nevada history students will spend a lot of time with it.

MISSION STATEMENT: It is the mission of this web site to give a brief, but informative insight into Nevada's historical past. In doing so, I hope it can be of use to anyone studying the history of Nevada, or to anyone just plain curious. I encourage those interested in history to visit any of the hundreds of historical places, ghost towns, (tourist ready) towns and get a first hand view of what it might have been like way back then. I do however - discourage treasure hunters. This can be a very destructive hobby. If anyone has the opportunity to visit any of the ghost towns or old mining camps - take only photographs and please, leave only foot prints.

DISCLAIMER: I have done my very best to get all the facts in this site as true and correct as I possibly could. I have come across several discrepancies, mostly minor points, but a few which could add to one's confusion when trying to understand Nevada's past. I have tried to make note to as many of these differences as possible, but otherwise I have omitted them from the site.

Important notice: (The fine print) The only advertising allowed on this website are those which relate directly to old west history in some form. The only finances generated by this site are donations. Thank you.
